
Head of state, Latvia's parliament speaker discuss Moldovan-Latvian cooperation
Chisinau, 22 March /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today welcomed Parliament Speaker of Latvia Edvards Smiltēns in Chisinau. The two officials discussed the security situation in Moldova and in the region, the presidential press service has reported.
President Maia Sandu stressed that, despite the difficulties, the authorities maintained the peace and stability in Moldova and consolidated the institutions which must ensure order. At the same time, the head of state thanked for the quite close partnership and active support in the country’s European integration.
We have an excellent cooperation with Latvia in the domestic affairs sector, especially at the level of the Border Police, as well as a close cooperation in the investigation of the bank fraud. We carry out together important projects in the education and research fields and we want to extend projects also in the sector of combating the propaganda and misinformation, by taking over Latvians’ experience.
Speaker of Latvia’s Saeima Edvards Smiltēns is on an official visit to Chisinau on 21-23 March.
