Joint Control Commission holds extraordinary meeting in Bender
Chisinau, 22 January /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s delegation, at a weekly meeting of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) from 21 January 2021, reiterated its position on the pressing problems from the Security Zone and proposed on the meeting’s agenda important subjects concerning the presence of the illegal ‘’border guards’’ posts and abuses by the power wielding structures from the left bank of Dniester, who infringe the fundamental human rights, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported. .
Several hours of intense discussions and the backing of this position by representatives of Ukraine and OSCE Mission in the Commission did not withstand the irritation of Tiraspol’s representatives. The latter for a long time have been opposing the agenda of the problems which continuously worsen the situation in the Security Zone and which they describe with arrogance that they would not be within the competence of JCC.
Given the lack of consensus, the agenda was not approved and for this reason, the ordinary meeting of the Joint Control Commission was not opened.
In order not to fully jeopardize the Commission’s work, the sides agreed on holding an extraordinary meeting, with only two subjects on the agenda.
Thus, a new representative of Ukraine, attaché on military issues of this country, colonel Aleksey Braginets, as well as another two experts of Moldova’s delegation were confirmed as members of JCC. Also, the Commission took note of the report by the Joint Military Command on the situation in the Security Zone on the period 23-29 December 2020.
