Moldova wants mutually advantageous bilateral cooperation with Turkey, PM says
Chisinau, 23 April /MOLDPRES/- Moldova wants a bilateral cooperation with Turkey, that is advantageous for both countries. Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici made a statement to this effect at a meeting with members of the Foreign Economic Relations Council, as well as the Turkish-Moldovan business people council, held in Istanbul, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.
The prime minister said Turkey was a strategic development partner for Moldova, and the assistance projects provided by the Turkish government were aimed at improving the living standards of people from different regions of Moldova, including Gagauzia.
According to data by the Licensing Chamber, over 1,000 enterprises with Turkish capital are operating in Moldova. Thus, Turkey ranks tenth in the list of investing countries.
"Turkey is an important partner for Moldova, and these indicators prove that the Turkish economic agents make efforts to develop business and partnerships with Moldovan economic agents. We hope that the investments will be on the rise, as we want to turn to good account the potential of economic relations with Turkey," he noted.
The Foreign Economic Relations Council is a private and non-profit organisation, founded in 1988 by the union of nine companies in the private sector. Its goal is development of the business and investment relations through active promotion of Turkish economy abroad and informing Turkish enterprises about present business opportunities and domestic, regional and global economic evolutions.
The prime minister also met representatives of the Turkish Banks Association. Gaburici pointed out that one of the priorities on the government's agenda was to ensure stability in the financial and banking system of Moldova.
