
Moldovan authorities approve Romanian humanitarian aid’s distribution plan
Chisinau, 18 March /MOLDPRES/-Deputy Prime Minister Gheorghe Brega today chaired the meeting of the interdepartmental commission for humanitarian aid, as well as the meeting of the heads of territorial commissions in charge. During the meetings, the interdepartmental commission approved the distribution plan and mechanism of the humanitarian aid granted by the Romanian government.
According to the government’s communication and press relations bureau, the document provides for the final distribution of the sugar and food parcels for residents of Moldovan municipalities and districts. The humanitarian aid distribution mechanism and its deadlines were made public to representatives of local public authorities. The Material Reserves Agency will start distributing the donated sugar in Chisinau municipality and Moldova’s central districts next week. It will then continue with Moldova’s northern and southern districts.
According to the categories of eligible beneficiaries, the donated sugar will be granted to severely handicapped people, residential care homers for elder and disabled people, placement homes for children exposed to risk and disabled children, maternal centers, family services, children without parental protection, placed in guardianship/trusteeship, alternative services for disabled people (community houses, protected dwellings), kindergartens and children hospitals/sections.
Food parcels will arrive to Moldova in April and will be donated to severely disabled children and people.
According to the food safety verification procedure of the humanitarian food-aid, the National Public Health Center has already issued a sanitary approval of the sugar storage at the Material Reserves Agency.
The distribution of sugar and food parcels will be monitored by the civil society and mass media. After the distribution is complete, the interdepartmental commission will assess its correctness and compliance with the categories of eligible beneficiaries.
The Romanian government’s humanitarian aid consists of 1,170,185 tons of sugar, 20,000 food parcels (flour, pasta, cornmeal, canned meat, pate, canned vegetables, as well as 16,295 tons of fuel oil, to be used in the prevention of energy risk situations in Chisinau.
