Moldovan foreign minister participated in annual conference of Institute for Security Studies of EU
Chisinau, June 10 / MOLDPRES /- Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu attended an annual conference of the Institute for Security Studies of the European Union (EUISS), held in Paris, in the panel The war in Ukraine: Europe's place in the world together with Heather Grabbe, Director of the Institute for European Policy for an Open Society and Panel Moderator Gustav Lindstrom, Director of EUISS, the MAEIE press service has reported.
In his speech, Popescu said that the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine has created a new geopolitical reality in Europe and in the world, with a profound impact on the Republic of Moldova. In this context, the diplomat noted that after February 24, the war of aggression against Ukraine changed political priorities across Europe, with foreign policy, security and energy resilience becoming at the forefront of European leaders' agendas.
"For our country, for our people, the European Union means the longest-lived project of peace," he said.
At the same time, the Moldovan official strongly argued that in these complicated times, the family of European states must renew its commitment to promote our common values.
"Extension to the countries that share these values is the most effective tool to promote peace and bring stability in Eastern Europe, being a good decision for both EU citizens and our entire continent," he said.
