Moldovan parliament speaker participates in meeting of Council of Interparliamentary Assembly of Commonwealth of Independent States

Chisinau, 15 April /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii today participated in a meeting of the Council of the Inter-parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS) in capacity of its member.

According to the parliament’s communication and public relations department, at the meeting, the officials considered the report on the organization of the IPA CIS missions of observers in monitoring the elections and referendums, which took place in CIS member states. They also considered the draft agenda of the 52nd plenary session, report on the work of the international institute for monitoring the development of the democracy, parliamentarianism and observance of the electoral rights of the citizens from the IPA CIS member states, as well as the preparation for the ninth Nevsky International Ecological Congress.    

The members of the Council of the Inter-parliamentary Assembly of CIS changed the plan of model norms in CIS for 2020-2022 and heard the activity report of the organization for 2020.

Another subject discussed referred to the preparatory actions for marking the 30th anniversary of the foundation of the IPA CIS, due in 2022. In the context, Zinaida Greceanii proposed the organization of an exhibition of photos of the most important events of IPA CIS, with the joint contribution of all member parliamentary institutions.

Chairwoman of Russia’s Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko thanked the Moldovan parliament speaker for involvement and prodigious work in strengthening and developing the inter-state relations also on the platform of IPA CIS.

The Council of IPA CIS preceded the 52nd plenary session of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, due in at Tauride Palace from St. Petersburg on 16 April 2021.    

The parliaments from ten states are members of the CIS Inter-parliamentary Assembly: Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan.
