
Moldovan president congratulates Jewish community on Passover
Chisinau, April 5 /MOLDPRES/- President Maia Sandu today congratulated the Jewish community in the Republic of Moldova on the occasion of Pesach and met with community representatives. Alexander Bilinkis, the president of the Jewish community, and Aliona Grossu, the director of the community were present at the talks with the head of state.
According to the presidential press service, on the occasion of Jewish Passover, President Maia Sandu sent a congratulatory message: "Dear members of the Jewish Community from the Republic of Moldova, Passover is one of the most important holidays for the Jewish people, this symbolizing freedom, great exodus from Egypt and freedom from slavery in the Jewish tradition. Pesach is also the celebration of spring, a time of renewal and new beginnings," said the head of state.
Also, Maia Sandu emphasized that the Jewish people have traveled a long and arduous path in their history, going through difficult trials: "The challenges of our times urge us to set an example of humanity, solidarity and learn from the lessons of the past. May this holiday bring you peace and happiness! Happy Passover!” the president said.
