Moldovan president hands over State Flag to Olympic Team due to represent Moldova at European Games in Poland
Chisinau, 16 June /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today handed over the State Flag to the Olympic Team, which will represent Moldova at the European Games in Poland. Also today, the head of state awarded distinctions to Serghei and Oleg Tarnovschi, who showed performance at the World Championships in 2022, the presidential press service has reported.
„Moldova has people who make us famous in the world and who make the country’s flag be raised triumphantly at the most important championships. There are thousands of hours of extenuating training and people who support sportspeople behind their moments of glory: family members, coaches, teachers, physicians, masseurs. Through their effort, these sportspeople inspire children and young people who want to follow their tracks,’’ the Moldovan president said.
The head of state noted that there would be a harsh competition between 7,000 well-trained sportspeople at the European Games due in Kraków-Małopolska and wished those 85 Moldovan sportspeople perseverance and much success. ”Dear sportspeople, we are grateful to you for the feeling of pride which overwhelms us when the national anthem is sung at sports competitions. You not only collect victories in your prize list, but contribute to the creation of a stronger state and to the paving of our road to the family of European countries,’’ President Maia Sandu said.
