
Moldovan president meets Swedish foreign affairs minister
Chisinau, 6 October /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today met Foreign Affairs Minister of Sweden, OSCE chairwoman-in-office Ann Linde, on a working visit to Moldova, the presidential press service has reported.
„We discussed the developments from the Transnistrian file, including the pandemic situation in the region and the problems dealing with observance of the human rights on the left bank of Dniester. We referred also to the preparations for the re-launch of the process of 5+2 negotiations this autumn. I confirmed also our determination to find peaceful solutions for the rapprochement of the two banks, through coherent reintegration policies, which are aimed at strengthening the state Republic of Moldova,’’ the head of state said.
President Maia Sandu and Minister Ann Linde discussed also the Moldova-Sweden bilateral relations, the country’s agenda of reforms, focused on combating corruption and reforming the justice, consolidation of the state institutions and digitalization of the public services, economic re-launch and local development.
„These are priorities for which we need wide support. Sweden is one of the most important development partners of Moldova – we discussed, in this context, perspectives of the cooperation for the next years. At the same time, I thanked Sweden for the support of our European integration including within the Eastern Partnership,’’ President Maia Sandu said.
