
Chisinau, 12 March /MOLDPRES/- On 12 March 2021, mourning spread over the national culture by extinguishing the life of academician, writer, literary historian Nicolae DABIJA.
Nicolae DABIJA was born on 15 July 1948, in Codreni village, Cimișlia district. In 1966 and 1972, he studied at the State University of Moldova, Faculty of Journalism. During his professional activity he was lecturer at the Department of Romanian Literature of the State Pedagogical University Ion Creanga, senior lecturer at the Department of Communication Sciences of the International Free University of Moldova, Member of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, President of the Society Our Romanian Language, president of the Association of Scientists, Culture and Art of the Republic of Moldova, vice-president of the Cultural League of Romanians Everywhere, president of the Democratic Forum of Romanians of the Republic of Moldova etc.
He was awarded the State Prize of the Republic of Moldova in literature and art in 1988, and the Prize of the Romanian Academy Mihai Eminescu in 1995. For his remarkable poetic work and for his involvement in reawakening Romanian spirituality he was awarded in 2000 Order of the Star of Romania in the rank of Commander. In 2010, the Romanian Academy of Higher Studies awarded him the title of Honoris Causa and the honorary title of Academician as a sign of high esteem and respect for the entire activity; in 2013 he obtained the honorary title Emeritus Man, and in 2014 as a sign of high appreciation for the promotion of Romanian culture, language and spirituality, he was awarded the Order Cultural Merit in the rank of Grand Officer.
He is author of many books.
A man who gave his whole life to our culture and language left this world.
