People with at least 40 years of contributions to receive minimum pension of 3,300 lei
Starting 1 May 2025, people with at least 40 years of contributions will benefit from an increased minimum pension worth 3,300 lei. A decision to this effect was approved at today's cabinet meeting.
Through this measure, the government supports people who have worked for a long time in fields such as education, agriculture, social assistance and other sectors of economy but receive small pensions due to the low income they had throughout their careers.
The new regulation contributes to strengthening social equity and ensuring a decent living for elderly people. It also reflects the government's commitment to supporting citizens who have actively contributed to the development of society throughout their professional careers.
"When the government identifies resources, they are made available to our citizens. In the last three years, the increase in pension fund allocations has exceeded 13.9 billion lei. On 1 April, pensions were indexed by 10%, with the minimum pension increasing from 1,888 lei to 3,055 lei, and the average pension doubling to 4,407 lei. In the cold season, the most vulnerable pensioners received between 800 and 1,400 lei monthly. All these measures show the government's commitment to support the people, with the help of our partners," said Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
The National Social Insurance House will automatically adjust the pensions of eligible beneficiaries, without requiring them to submit an application.
