PM says government wants Moldova to become No 1 in region as to ease to do business

Chisinau, 1 November /MOLDPRES/ - The second plenary meeting from 2023 of the members of the Economic Council under the Prime Minister of Moldova has been held at the government’s headquarters. The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Dorin Recean, the government’s communication and protocol department reported.   
In the beginning of the meeting, PM Recean thanked the business community for the effort made to promote the reforms as to the de-regulation of the business activity, the reform of the sector of state controls and digitalization of the national economy. Also, the prime minister referred to the absolute priority of the governmental team – long-term economic development.     
„Besides the fact that we work a lot to overcome the crises, to implement the reforms, to adjust the legislation and to edify the society according to the European standards, it is badly necessary to develop the economy. Our goal is to enhance the labour productivity, remove the constraints, reduce the bureaucracy and the business costs, to provide access to investment resources and make available to business people digital instruments of interaction with the state. We are set Moldova to become No 1 in the region as to the ease to do business,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.   
The PM also touched upon those 20 objectives of the government in the European Moldova 2030 Strategy, of which 3 ones have direct relevance for the business community. It is about the de-regulation or reduction of the bureaucracy, digitalization of the public services and the backing of the small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The implementation of the reforms from these priorities alone might bring savings worth 5 billion lei for the business annually.    
The dialogue with business people and representatives of associations of investors continued with setting forth problems faced by each branch separately. Among them, there are: non-loyal commercial policies, long term of processing work permits for the foreign citizens who come to work in Moldova, lack of specialists and unattractive salaries, the need to exclude the customs duties on raw materials.
