Moldovan president, Diaspora representatives discuss returning, reintegration of citizens at home
President Maia Sandu today had a dialogue with representatives of the Diaspora, focused on improving public policies aimed at returning and reintegrating in Moldova.
Over one hundred people participated in the event: representatives of central and local public authorities, ambassadors of Moldova in countries with significant Moldovan communities, as well as members of the Diaspora from various countries and fields of activity.
The discussions focused on reintegration policies, concrete experiences of those who have returned or are involved in working with the Diaspora, and identifying solutions that can make the return process easier and more efficient. Participants talked about access to services, information, administrative support, social and economic integration, as well as the important role of cultural events and civic initiatives organized within the Diaspora.
President Maia Sandu emphasized that the state had the responsibility to create clear and friendly conditions for those who want to return home and that constant dialogue with the Diaspora was essential for adapting public policies to the real needs of people.
An important topic of discussion was the role of the Moldovan Diaspora in the European path of Moldova. President Maia Sandu highlighted that Moldovans abroad actively contributed to promoting European values and building a good image of Moldova in the countries where they live, being an important bridge between the country and its external partners.
The event was organized by Moldova’s Presidency, in partnership with the Diaspora Relations Bureau, and provided a framework for dialogue between authorities and the Diaspora, in order to identify solutions that encourage the return and reintegration of citizens at home.
