Republic of Moldova and Poland to cooperate in defense
The Republic of Moldova and Poland will cooperate in defense. The Government today approved the draft decision on initiating negotiations and approving the signing of an Agreement to this end.
Minister of Defense Anatolie Nosatîi said that the initiative stems from the need to update the interministerial agreement concluded in 1998 by expanding important areas of cooperation in line with the requirements of the current security environment.
According to the official, the new framework will allow the consolidation of the partnership in common areas such as defense policy and strategic planning, training and military exercises, military education and research, logistics, cybersecurity, strategic communication, as well as participation in international missions and operations.
"This extended cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Poland will contribute to advancing the modernization process of the National Army, strengthening national security and, accordingly, ensuring a safe and stable environment for citizens," Anatolie Nosatîi emphasized.
The official underlined that the provisions of the agreement are in line with the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, including the principle of permanent neutrality, do not contravene the international commitments assumed by the Republic of Moldova, and do not require amendments to the national legal framework.
