Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Alexandru Munteanu took part in Green Finance and Investment Forum Moldova – an event dedicated to accelerating green and sustainable investments, modernizing infrastructure and strengthening the transition to a more efficient, more resilient and more environmentally friendly economy.

In his speech, he noted that the wealth of a nation is no longer measured only by what it extracts from nature, but by how intelligently it knows how to protect it, harness it and create more value using fewer resources. He also pointed out that if in the past investors analyzed how much a factory produced, today the questions also concern how much it consumes, how much it recycles, how much energy it uses and how prepared it is for the challenges of the future.

“In just half a century, ecology has moved from the periphery of the public agenda to the center of economic policies. The Republic of Moldova understands this reality. The EU–Moldova investment conference, held a few weeks ago, showed that our country inspires confidence and can attract significant resources for modernization and economic growth. For us, the green economy is not a project separate from European integration. It is part of European integration,” he said.

In this context, the Prime Minister underlined that in the process of accession to the European Union, the environment is gaining strategic importance. Clean water, clean air, modern waste management, protecting biodiversity, expanding forested areas and increasing resilience to climate change mean, first and foremost, a better quality of life for citizens.

“The economy of the future will not reward waste, but efficiency. And we want the Republic of Moldova to be among the countries that win this competition. That is why, for the Government, green investments are not only investments in the environment, but investments in the future of our economy,” said the Prime Minister.

Green Finance and Investment Forum Moldova brings together representatives of government institutions, commercial banks, development partners, the business community and international organizations. The event aims to facilitate dialogue on green financing, investment needs, available instruments and the measures required to accelerate sustainable projects in the Republic of Moldova.

The forum agenda includes high-level discussions, thematic panels, business case studies and workshops dedicated to SMEs, financial institutions and stakeholders involved in implementing the green taxonomy.

The event is organized by FinTech Hub and AmCham Moldova, with the support of strategic partners EU4Green Recovery East, Innovate Moldova, the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, IFC Moldova, EBRD Moldova, the Ministry of Environment and Tekwill.
