Acting Prime Minister Eugeniu Osmochescu is paying a working visit to Brussels on 14 July 2026, where he will participate in the Republic of Moldova – European Union Intergovernmental Conference on the opening of accession negotiations for Cluster 6 External Relations.

Osmochescu will deliver the opening statements of the meeting, while Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov will present the Republic of Moldova’s negotiating position on this cluster. At the end of the conference, the Acting Prime Minister will hold a joint press conference together with representatives of the European institutions.

The visit agenda also includes meetings with officials of the European institutions, focused on advancing the European integration process, strengthening economic and trade cooperation, as well as preparing the next stages of the accession negotiations.

Osmochescu will hold meetings with Marta Kos, European Commissioner for Enlargement; Valdis Dombrovskis, European Commissioner for Economy and Productivity; Maroš Šefčovič, European Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security. There will also be a discussion with Gert Jan Koopman, Director-General of the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR).

Together with Eugen Tomac, Member of the European Parliament, Eugeniu Osmochescu will meet with the young winners of the EuroQuiz 2026 competition.

The opening of accession negotiations with the Republic of Moldova for the next group of chapters – Cluster 6 External Relations – confirms that the Republic of Moldova continues to advance in the accession process based on its own merits, with the unanimous support of all EU Member States. It should be recalled that on 15 June 2026, accession negotiations were opened on Cluster 1 – Fundamental Values.
