President nominates Vasile Tofan as candidate for Prime Minister

The Presidency of the Republic of Moldova

President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu today signed the decree appointing Vasile Tofan as candidate for the position of Prime Minister. The nomination took place after consultations with the parliamentary factions, in accordance with the provisions of Article 98 paragraph (1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova.

According to Article 98 paragraph (2) of the Constitution, the nominated candidate shall, within 15 days from the nomination, request a vote of confidence from Parliament on the government program and the full list of the Cabinet.
