2026 spring parliamentary session begins
Parliament is launching the spring parliamentary session. Plenary meetings of the standing committees are scheduled this week. Parliament will also host two official visits.
The parliamentary session begins with the official visit of Speakers of the Parliaments of the Baltic States. Today, after the meeting with Speaker Igor Grosu, the officials will hold a joint press conference. On 3 February, the inaugural sitting of the spring session will take place, with the participation of the President of the Riigikogu of the Republic of Estonia, Lauri Hussar, the Speaker of the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia, Daiga Mieriņa, and the Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, Juozas Olekas. The Speakers of the Parliaments of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania will deliver speeches during the solemn meeting.
On 4–5 February, Parliament will host a visit by rapporteurs of the Venice Commission, who will collect facts to prepare the opinion on Law No. 100/2025 amending certain normative acts to ensure the effective combating of electoral corruption.
On 4 February, the Committee on European Integration will hold a meeting at which the progress made by the Republic of Moldova in the accession to the European Union will be presented.
On 5 February, MPs will convene in a plenary meeting to examine legislative initiatives. This week, the parliamentary platform will also host preliminary discussions with representatives of all parliamentary factions on the reform of local public administration.
In accordance with the Regulations of Parliament, the spring session begins in February and cannot extend beyond the end of July.
