CEC: several political parties violated financial management regulations
The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has reviewed the financial management reports of political parties for 2024 and found multiple violations of the legal framework.
According to the CEC, 59 political parties have fulfilled their obligation to submit annual financial reports electronically through the Financial Control informational system.
However, six formations have ignored the requirement, not reporting financial data through the system. It is about: the Socialist Party of Moldova, the United Moldova Party – “Eдиная Молдова”, the Conservative Party, the Regions Party of Moldova, the Political Party Alternative and Salvation Force of Moldova and the Political Party “CHANCE”.
Additionally, the CEC has suspended the allocation of state budget funds to the Political Party “Common Action Party – Civic Congress” and the Political Party Coalition for Unity and Well-Being, due to non-compliance with demands to return illegal donations totaling more than 155,000 lei.
The Political Party National Alternative Movement was warned for non-compliance in their financial report for the second semester of 2024 and was required to correct it.
The CEC also noted reasonable suspicions regarding the misuse of public funds meant for promoting the participation of women and youth in politics by four political groups: the Political Party “Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova” – 287,851.56 lei, the Political Party “Democracy at Home” – 80,828.77 lei, the Political Party National Alternative Movement – 60,149.64 lei, and the Political Party League of Cities and Communes – 66,338.41 lei.
In this regard, the Commission has notified the Court of Accounts to verify the correctness of the use of public funds.
