Deputy Prime Minister to pay official visit to Bulgaria
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi will pay an official visit to Sofia, Bulgaria, on 9 September, following an invitation of Bulgarian counterpart Velislava Petrova.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the visit, Mihai Popșoi will meet with Bulgaria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Velislava Petrova. The two officials will subsequently hold a joint press conference, scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
The visit's agenda also includes meetings with President of Bulgaria Iliana Iotova, Speaker of the National Assembly of Bulgaria Mihaela Dotsova, Deputy Prime Minister Ivo Hristov, as well as Chairperson of the National Assembly’s Foreign Policy Committee Petar Vitanov.
The Moldovan diplomat will also meet with Galin Durev, Chair of Bulgaria–Moldova Parliamentary Friendship Group.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussions will focus on relations between the Republic of Moldova and Bulgaria, strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas of common interest, and Bulgaria’s support for advancing the Republic of Moldova’s European path.
During the visit, Mihai Popșoi will also give an interview to the Bulgarian National Television (BNT).
The Republic of Moldova established diplomatic relations with the Republic of Bulgaria on February 5, 1992. Bulgaria was among the first states to open a diplomatic mission in Chisinau, on December 19, 1992, while the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Sofia was opened on February 10, 1994.
