European Commissioner to visit Chișinău for talks on Growth Plan and economic integration into EU

European Commissioner for Economy and Productivity, Implementation and Simplification Valdis Dombrovskis will pay first working visit to the Republic of Moldova on 1-2 October, to discuss the Growth Plan for Moldova, investments, and bringing the country’s economy closer to the European single market with officials in Chișinău.

According to the EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova, on the first day of his visit, Dombrovskis will meet with President Maia Sandu, Prime Minister Vasile Tofan, members of the Government, and representatives of the business community. The discussions will also focus on investments and the measures needed to bring the economy of the Republic of Moldova closer to the European Union’s single market.

The European Commissioner will also meet with Governor of the National Bank of Moldova Anca Dragu, after which he will deliver a speech at the NBM’s annual conference dedicated to the coordination of economic policies in the European integration process.

Valdis Dombrovskis and Prime Minister Vasile Tofan will hold a press conference on October 1 at 3:45 p.m.

On the second day of his visit, the European official will meet with members of the Parliamentary Committee on Economy, Budget and Finance. The discussions will take place in the context of the Republic of Moldova’s efforts to align its economic policies with those of the European Union.
