Head of State: Gagauzia - important region of our country, Moldova’s development impossible without strong regions
Gagauzia is an important region of our country, and Moldova’s development is impossible without strong regions. Our future depends on how we manage to build it together. President Maia Sandu conveyed the message at a ceremony marking the 35th anniversary of the founding of Comrat State University.
The official highlighted that Gagauzia residents are about to elect their representatives to the People’s Assembly.
“These people must bring the changes expected by the voters: development, prosperity and peace. They must transform Gagauzia into a strong, modern and open community,” said Maia Sandu.
The head of state also emphasized the contribution of young people from Gagauzia to the country’s development.
“When young people from Gagauzia feel needed and appreciated throughout the country, both the autonomy and the state as a whole benefit. However, in order to fully harness this potential, knowledge of the Romanian language is necessary. This is important both for full participation in society and for professional development,” Maia Sandu noted.
The President spoke about unity and social development in peace and prosperity.
“We all share a common goal: to live in peace and prosperity here, at home. However, we live in complicated, unpredictable times, in which merely promoting common political values is no longer sufficient; they require constant efforts to be defended,” Maia Sandu stressed.
Comrat State University today marked 35 years since its founding. During the ceremony, Maia Sandu also referred to the importance of preserving the Gagauz language and culture, a “heritage that must be carefully preserved through joint efforts."
