Moldovan parliament speaker says modernizing infrastructure, improving public services stay essential goals

Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has paid a working visit to the northern Soldanesti  district, where he discussed with mayors and representatives of deconcentrated services development projects implemented in the settlements of the region.

The official reviewed the investments made so far, as well as the priorities for the coming period, emphasizing that modernizing infrastructure and improving public services stay essential goals.

According to the data presented, approximately 160 million lei is being invested in Soldanesti district through the European Village programmes, meant for the development of rural localities. Another 34 million lei was allocated to the health system, and this year 10 million lei has been earmarked for the construction and rehabilitation of local roads in more villages.

Igor Grosu specified that the effects of these investments were not always felt immediately by citizens, given the problems accumulated over the years.

“We cannot quickly repair everything that has been destroyed over the years. We still have many roads to build, schools and kindergartens to renovate and services to bring closer to citizens,” he noted.

In the same context, the parliament speaker stressed that process of Moldova’s development was already underway.

“Moldova is already developing today, not only when it becomes a European state,” Igor Grosu said.

The authorities say that modernization projects will continue gradually, including with the support of development partners.
