Parliament established parliamentary friendship groups with other states: Russia and Belarus excluded

The 12th legislature's parliament will have 54 parliamentary friendship groups with various states. The draft resolution, which stipulates the numerical and nominal composition of the delegations was adopted today with the vote of 70 deputies.

According to the principle of proportionality, 34 friendship groups will be led by deputies from the parliamentary majority, and the other 20 groups by representatives of the opposition.

As in the previous legislature, the largest friendship group will be the one with Romania. The group is led by MP of the Action and Solidarity Party faction Veronica Roșca, and includes 55 deputies.

Unlike the previous legislature, friendship groups with the Russian Federation and Belarus have not been created. The Foreign Policy Commission announced the renunciation of parliamentary friendship groups with these countries during Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine.

Additionally, for the first time, the legislature will have separate friendship groups with Central Asian countries.

According to the procedure, the nominal composition of the parliamentary friendship groups is established based on the options expressed by the deputies, and the allocation of group presidents' positions is done considering the proportional representation of political parties in Parliament.
