Foreign Minister at opening of Honorary Consuls’ Meeting: Moldova made clear and irreversible choice to join European Union

The Republic of Moldova’s foreign policy priorities in the context of European integration, regional security and economic development, as well as the role of honorary consuls in expanding the country’s international partnerships, were presented by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi at the opening of the annual meeting of the Honorary Consuls of the Republic of Moldova.

In his message, the minister emphasized that European integration remains a priority of the country’s foreign policy and the authorities are determined to maintain the pace of the accession process to the European Union.

“The Republic of Moldova has made a clear and irreversible choice to join the European Union, and the new Government is determined to maintain the pace of the accession process. Our country has much to offer: competitive companies, talented people, a growing technology sector, quality agricultural products, wines and food products with a well-defined identity. You are trusted partners, with a unique ability to build bridges between the Republic of Moldova and the societies in which you live,” said Mihai Popșoi.

According to the minister, through the relationships they develop in the countries where they operate, honorary consuls can contribute to expanding institutional and economic contacts, promoting the business and investment opportunities offered by the Republic of Moldova, and increasing the country’s visibility abroad.

The annual meeting also provides an opportunity for direct dialogue between representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the honorary consuls of the Republic of Moldova on foreign policy priorities and ways to strengthen relations with international partners.

Following the opening address, Mihai Popșoi exchanged views with the honorary consuls and answered their questions.
