Judge passes re-evaluation in Moldova; Superior Council of Magistracy accepts Commission’s report

Judge Natalia Mamaliga has passed the external re-evaluation. The Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) today examined the Commission’s report on the re-evaluation of the magistrate, who is a candidate for the position of judge at the Chisinau Court of Appeal, Central Panel.

Thus, the CSM accepted the Commission’s proposal to confirm the successful completion of the re-evaluation. During the procedure, the Commission upheld the conclusion formulated in the initial evaluation, as no new circumstances were identified that would justify modifying the previous finding.

The reports on the initial evaluation and the re-evaluation of judge Natalia Mamaliga will be published after the expiry of the legal deadline for lodging an appeal.

The CSM has earlier ordered the re-evaluation of magistrates in 14 cases, most of them concerning judges of the Chisinau Court of Appeal, Central Panel, or candidates for these positions. Three of the cases concerned presidents and vice presidents of courts. So far, 11 re-evaluations have been completed and the Commission has maintained its initial conclusions in most cases, changing them in only two situations. Two other cases are under examination and one subject withdrew during the re-evaluation procedure.
