Moldova, Ireland strengthen dialogue in context of European integration

Moldova and Ireland are boosting their bilateral dialogue in the context of its European path. The topic was discussed at a meeting between Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu and Ambassador of Ireland to Moldova, Myles Geiran.

The discussions focused on developments related to the European integration of Moldova, including in the context of Ireland set to assume the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of the 2026 year.

The officials highlighted the importance of cooperation between the two states and Ireland’s support for Moldova’s European agenda.

Igor Grosu thanked the Irish authorities for their decision to open an embassy in Chisinau, describing this step as a significant one for deepening the Moldovan–Irish relations and for strengthening political dialogue.

At the same time, the parliament speaker stressed that Ireland’s experience after joining the European Union represented a relevant example for Moldova, proving the importance of civic engagement, sustained work and confidence in a better future.

“It is an experience from which we have much to learn and which gives us confidence that Moldova can also succeed, step by step,” Grosu said.

The Irish diplomat reaffirmed his country’s support for the European path of Moldova.
