Moldova to attend first EU Enlargement Forum in Brussels
The Republic of Moldova will participate in the first EU Enlargement Forum, organized on November 18, in Brussels, by the European Commission. The forum will bring together European leaders, representatives of candidate countries, and experts to discuss the future of the European Union.
The Republic of Moldova will be represented by Ambassador Daniela Morari, who will participate in a high-level debate organized on the eve of the event by the European Centre for Political Studies. Diplomats from Montenegro, Albania, Kosovo, and Ukraine, along with Gert Jan Koopman, Director-General of the Directorate for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR) will also be present at the discussions.
The forum will take place under the slogan "By enlarging the Union, we secure our future" and will be hosted by Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos. The event will conclude with a speech by President of the European Council António Costa.
According to the European Commission, "enlargement is essential for the Union's ability to project stability, prosperity, and democratic values beyond and within its borders."
The European executive emphasizes that the enlargement process strengthens the Union's strategic interests, supports economic growth, enhances energy security, and anchors reforms in governance and the rule of law. The new strategy for the 2024–2029 period aims to make enlargement not just a promise but a concrete policy of transformation and integration.
