Parliament to examine over 300 laws

Parliament is to examine over 300 laws this year. Thus, in February consultations will be launched on the draft Code concerning the organization and functioning of the legislative institution. In parallel, important projects in the infrastructure, the implementation of public administration reform and justice reform, as well as the harmonization of national legislation with EU legislation in the economic field will be continued. The measures were presented today by Speaker Igor Grosu during a TVR MOLDOVA show.

The official referred to the actions included in Moldova’s EU accession agenda and the areas in which several important measures are planned.

“Today we held the meeting of the Commission for European Integration, with the participation of the parliament and the government, chaired by the President. We reviewed last year’s report, which evaluated the performance of the Republic of Moldova up to September and the actions planned for this year. In the field of justice, the commitment is to continue with the external evaluation of judges and prosecutors. On the economic dimension, national legislation will be harmonized with that of the EU. Also, a set of measures is planned in the social and education fields,” stated Igor Grosu.

The Speaker mentioned that public administration reform is to be implemented this year.

“Public consultations are already taking place. I have seen an impressive figure – over 300 town halls that have expressed interest in voluntary amalgamation or voluntary merger of localities. Equally important is the Moldsilva reform, the continuation of the national reforestation initiative and many other projects with social impact,” Igor Grosu emphasized.

He also spoke about infrastructure projects, including the construction of bridges over the Prut River and the commissioning of the Vulcănești–Chișinău power line.

“The latest incident involving the disconnection of electricity has once again demonstrated that the investments made so far are justified. I refer in particular to those 110 kV lines, which are intended to ensure at least the islanded supply of the Republic of Moldova with electricity. They allowed us, in record time, to reconnect consumers to the power grid. This blackout occurred in the context of a crisis and military interventions. The attack by the Russian Federation on civilian infrastructure can be qualified as an act of terrorism, because when you bomb high-voltage lines and distribution stations, you are not targeting military infrastructure, but civilians who suffer,” concluded Igor Grosu.

The 2026 spring parliamentary session began on 2 February this year. In accordance with the Parliament Regulations, the spring session begins in February and cannot extend beyond the end of July, while the autumn session begins in September and cannot extend beyond the end of December.
