VIDEO // New round of talks on local public administration reform held in Moldova

Discussions on the reform of local public administration today continued in parliament with a new round of consultations with a parliamentary faction.  Secretary General of the Government Alexei Buzu has informed that the talks would continue next week, when meetings will be held with representatives of extra‑parliamentary parties and visits will be made to districts.

“We are ending the week with another useful and productive discussion with a parliamentary faction. We exchanged ideas and presented the government’s plans to have stronger mayoralties for more developed localities and better services for people,” said Alexei Buzu after the talks in parliament.

The official announced that meetings would with extra‑parliamentary parties and trips to districts to speak directly with local elected officials would take place next week.

“We are going to each district, in order to learn the views of local elected representatives, to consult with them, to listen to each other and to build developed settlements together. We are carrying out the reform together, with responsibility and care for every community,” Alexei Buzu emphasized.

In late last January, the government officially announced the launch of the process of preparing the local public administration reform, as part of efforts to modernize public administration and improve the quality of public services provided to the population.

Alexei Buzu has recently said that the draft concept of the local public administration reform would be presented at the end of February or the beginning of March. Subsequently, all the technical aspects of the reform will be finalized, and in the autumn this year, the draft laws will be submitted to Parliament.
