VIDEO // Government Secretary General: Unified Service Delivery Centers to be expanded to all localities, especially where town halls amalgamated

Unified Service Delivery Centers will be expanded to all localities in the country, especially where town halls will be amalgamated. In addition, the number of services provided there will increase from 120 to 600. Secretary General of the Government Alexei Buzu provided the details.

According to the official, the Centers will allow citizens to benefit from public services faster and closer to home, so that they no longer have to travel long distances for the necessary documents.

“Unified Service Delivery Centers will be expanded to all localities, especially where town halls will be amalgamated. At the moment, 120 public services are provided in these centers. We will work diligently so that by the end of the year, 600 public services will be provided. Thus, citizens will benefit from more public services, both local services and services from the National Social Insurance House (CNAS), Public Services Agency (ASP), Cadastre, civil services. This will provide better, faster, more efficient and more numerous services, without citizens having to travel long distances. Public services will come to them in their community,” said Buzu.

At the same time, Alexei Buzu mentioned that voluntary amalgamation is a choice that must be made at the local level, where people know best which solutions suit them.

“We place great emphasis on voluntary amalgamation. Because we believe that only local representatives, only communities know best how they could unite, strengthen their capacities, and join forces for the future,” he said.

The official stressed that the government's role is to make the procedure simpler and to provide support and incentives, including financial ones, to communities that decide to move forward together.

“We in the Government are finalizing a draft law through which we will simplify the voluntary amalgamation process. And we will offer more incentives, including long-term financial incentives, for the communities that will wish to amalgamate voluntarily, and we will provide more flexibility,” said Buzu.

In late January, the Government officially announced the launch preparing the local public administration reform, as part of efforts to modernize administration and improve the quality of public services provided to the population.

Buzu has recently announced that the draft concept of the local public administration reform will be presented in late February–early March. Subsequently, all the technical aspects of the reform will be finalized, and this autumn the draft laws will be submitted to Parliament.
