Moldovan parliament's delegation on visit to Brussels for talks on European integration

A delegation of the Moldova’s parliament is paying a study visit to the European Parliament in Brussels from June 1-3, where it is discussing the priorities of the European integration process, the strengthening of institutional cooperation and support for democratic reforms.

The delegation includes the Deputy Parliament Speakers Doina Gherman and Vlad Batrancea, as well as the leadership of the 12 standing parliamentary committees.

The agenda of the visit, organized by the European Parliament’s Democracy Support and Election Coordination Group, includes meetings with representatives of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations, the European External Action Service and the Council of the European Union.

According to the agenda, Moldovan MPs will take part in discussions with the European Parliament’s rapporteurs for Moldova on the draft report concerning developments in the country and the conclusions of the recent mission carried out in Moldova. Ion Groza is scheduled to speak during this session.

Additionally, members of the delegation will hold an exchange of views with representatives of the EU–Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee Delegation. Marcel Spatari will speak in the panel dedicated to European integration.

The agenda also includes debates on the institutional implications of the European Union’s enlargement negotiations and the EU Enlargement Strategy. MPs Marcel Spatari and Radu Marian will participate in these sessions.

At the same time, lawmakers Veronica Rosca and Grigore Novac will take part in discussions on the final report of the ODIHR (Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights) mission for the observation of the parliamentary elections from September 28, 2025 and the recommendations formulated for the Moldovan authorities. In parallel, MP Andrian Cheptonar will have meetings with members of the European Parliament’s Subcommittee on Security and Defence.

The visit also features discussions on the future 2028–2034 Multiannual Financial Framework of the European Union, the Global Europe instrument and the Reform and Growth Facility for Moldova.

At the closing session, by Doina Gherman, Vlad Batrancea and the Vice-President of the European Parliament Nicolae Stefanuta will deliver speeches.

The visit takes place following the recent signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the parliament of Moldova and the European Parliament and aims to strengthen relations between the two institutions, in the context of Moldova’s EU accession process.
