MPs held moment of silence in memory of rocket attack victims in Ukrainian city of Sumy

The MPs held a moment of silence today in memory of the victims of the Russian attack on the Ukrainian city of Sumy.

At the beginning of the meeting, Speaker Igor Grosu said that on a holy feast day for all Christians, we witnessed another crime in the city of Sumy.

"Innocent lives were lost, and entire families were left in mourning, in another act of barbarism that defies any trace of humanity. We are in Holy Thursday, I awaited, dear colleagues from the opposition, for you to condemn these crimes. However, it seems you do not see them, or perhaps your leaders in Kremlin will not allow you to see them. We also have some politicians who pretend to be pro-European but do not see these crimes. 'Russkii mir' does not mean peace, does not mean protection; it means destruction, death, and suffering. We see with our own eyes what it leaves behind - cities in ruins, children left without parents, elderly left under rubble, tears, and fear. The Republic of Moldova is and will remain in solidarity with the Ukrainian people. Condolences to the Ukrainian people and the grieving relatives," emphasized Igor Grosu.

Over 30 people were killed and at least 100 injured on Sunday by a rocket launched by Russian forces over the city of Sumy in northeastern Ukraine. This is the second bombardment with a large number of civilian casualties after that in Krivoi Rog, where 19 people died, including nine children.
