New local elections to be held in two south Moldova villages
The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today set May 17, 2026 as the date for holding new local elections for the position of mayor in the village of Topala, southern Cimislia district, and for a new composition of the village council in Copceac, Autonomous Territorial Unit (UTA) of Gagauzia.
The decisions follow the resignation of the mayor of Topala village, Cimislia district, and, in the case of Copceac village, UTA Gagauzia, the CEC resumed the administrative procedure regarding the examination of the notification by the local mayor on the dissolution of the village council, which did not adopt any decision for a period of six months.
On May 17, 2026, new local elections will also take place in the village of Costesti and the commune of Rusestii Noi, central Ialoveni district, the village of Mascauti, Criuleni district, the commune of Saratenii Vechi, Telenesti district, the town of Taraclia, Taraclia district and the municipality of Orhei, Orhei district.
