Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi today had meetings with three newly accredited ambassadors to Moldova, residing in Bucharest. It is about Ambassador of India Manoj Kumar Mohapatra, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt Orfy Mohammed and Ambassador of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Shahnaz Gazi.

During the discussions, Mihai Popsoi reiterated Moldova’s openness to boosting the political dialogue and developing cooperation in areas of common interest.

“I had productive meetings with three newly accredited ambassadors to Moldova, residing in Bucharest. We discussed strengthening bilateral relations and expanding economic and sectoral cooperation. On this occasion, I congratulated them on the presentation of their letters of accreditation and wished them every success in carrying out their mandates,” said Mihai Popsoi.

At the meeting with the with the ambassador of India, the Moldovan minister  reconfirmed interest in deepening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in such areas as the economy, agriculture and renewable energy. Mihai Popsoi also highlighted the importance of attracting Indian companies interested in investing in  Moldova, as well as advancing bilateral agreements currently under negotiation.

In the dialogue with the ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, the deputy PM discussed prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation, including advancing discussions on draft agreements in various fields, such as free trade, protection of mutual investments, avoidance of double taxation, air services and cooperation in culture and tourism. At the same time, the sides addressed possibilities for expanding economic cooperation in sch sectors as infrastructure, energy, agriculture, IT and tourism, including by facilitating trade exchanges and developing air connections.

In discussions with the ambassador of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Mihai Popsoi examined possibilities for developing bilateral relations and expanding economic cooperation, expressing interest in intensifying contacts and strengthening the bilateral legal framework. The sides reconfirmed interest in advancing dialogue on draft agreements under negotiation, with a view to harnessing the cooperation potential in such areas as investment protection, avoidance of double taxation and readmission.

The parties reconfirmed willingness to strengthen dialogue and develop cooperation relations.
