Moldovan parliament speaker, Greek MPs discuss cooperation, European integration

Moldova and the Greece are friendly countries, united by shared values and a common future in the European Union. Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has held discussions with members of the Friendship Group with the Moldova of the Greek parliament on this topic, as well as on ways to strengthen bilateral relations at the parliamentary level.

"We had an open dialogue about the support Greece is providing to Moldova in more key areas, as well as about the Twinning project, which, in the next two years, will support the Moldovan parliament in the process of harmonizing our legislation with European law. Greece’s success in transforming the country is an example for Moldova, and in the coming weeks, delegations will come to Chisinau, in order to boost cooperation in renewable energy, infrastructure, agribusiness, digital services and tourism development," Igor Grosu noted.

In recent years, the Moldovan–Greek bilateral relations have achieved concrete results: the opening of the Greek Embassy in Chisinau; the launch of more direct flights to Athens, Heraklion and Thessaloniki; and the signing of agreements long awaited by the Moldovan community – in the fields of social security and the mutual recognition of driving licenses. At the same time, Moldovan products are becoming increasingly appreciated in Greece – exports have doubled over the last two years, and Greece has risen into the top 20 trade partners of Moldova.
