Government facilitates return of Moldovan citizens from diaspora

The Government of the Republic of Moldova

Citizens of the Republic of Moldova who return to the country for permanent residence will continue to benefit from exemption from import duties for personal goods and one vehicle. The list of personal goods that can be brought upon return to the Republic of Moldova was approved today by the Government, in order to provide clarity regarding eligible goods and facilities.

The inclusion of all tax-exempt goods in an extended list will help simplify customs procedures, reduce verification time, and ensure equal treatment for all citizens returning home. It will also reduce the costs associated with the return process, which often influence the decision to come back home.

The Government continuously encourages the return of citizens from the diaspora. Support and guidance for return are provided through the Diaspora Relations Bureau. Within the Bureau, the Governmental Return Assistance Service operates as a one-stop shop, offering personalized advice and assistance to facilitate the reintegration of citizens of the Republic of Moldova who have returned home.
