Moldova is the most interested in preserving and strengthening European values and the European Union because that is our home, and that is where we are heading. Speaker Igor Grosu made the statement at a meeting with President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Theodoros Rousopoulos, in the context of the PACE meetings hosted by the Parliament of Chisinau.
The official reaffirmed our country's determination to fulfill commitments as a member state of the Council of Europe to complete the monitoring procedure of the PACE.
'Today, I welcomed the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, His Excellency, Mr. Theodoros Rousopoulos, in the context of the PACE meetings hosted by the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova. I told him that it is an honor for our country to hold the presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the CoE and that we will treat this mandate with the utmost responsibility. I also reaffirmed Moldova's determination to fulfill its commitments as a member state of the Council of Europe to complete the monitoring procedure of the PACE. Moldova is an ally of free and democratic countries. Moldova is the most interested in preserving and strengthening European values and the European Union because that is our home, and that is where we are heading,' stated Igor Grosu.
Chisinau parliament is hosting meetings of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, with around 60 parliamentarians from the 46 member states of the Council of Europe expected to attend. The meetings will take place on 20-21 November.
The event takes place in the context of the Republic of Moldova holding the Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe from 14 November 2025 to 15 May 2026.
