President: Moldova promoted and done everything for peace
The Republic of Moldova has promoted and done everything for peace. Yet, Russian drones and bombs fall and explode in our villages. President Maia Sandu made the statement today, after two Russian drones fell on our territory last night.
“A serious incident happened today. Two Russian drones fell in Moldovan villages and cities - one fell on a field near Ciumai in Taraclia, and the other exploded on a field near Ceadîr-Lunga. The territories have been isolated, and there is currently no danger to citizens,” wrote Maia Sandu.
The head of state said “Moldova has not attacked anyone, has not claimed any foreign territory, has not entered into conflict with any other state, and we have enshrined neutrality in our Constitution.”
“The Republic of Moldova has promoted and done everything for peace. Yet, Russian drones and bombs fall and explode in our villages. We must acknowledge that we do not have the necessary capabilities to defend ourselves against them. It is very serious that this is happening, and it is equally serious that some politicians betray their country, claiming that we do not even need to defend ourselves, that Moldova should remain weak and vulnerable to such threats,” Maia Sandu emphasized.
The president added that the authorities will continue to develop partnerships with European countries and modernize the National Army, “so that one day we will be a state that fully ensures the security of its citizens.”
“Authentic neutrality means being able to defend ourselves against the bombs of an aggressor state that reach our territory,” Maia Sandu concluded.
On the night of February 12 to 13, Border Police patrols reported several drones crossing the territory of Moldova, two of which fell and exploded in uninhabited areas, one near Ciumai, Taraclia district, and another on a field about 1.5 kilometers from the city of Ceadîr-Lunga and Valea Perjei.
