
President of National Assembly of Slovenia to visit Chișinău
President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia Urška Klakočar Zupančič will visit the Republic of Moldova on January 22-24. It is the first visit to our country by a speaker of Slovenian parliament in the 32 years since the establishment of Moldovan-Slovenian diplomatic relations.
According to the parliament's communication and public relations department, Slovenian officials will hold meetings with President Maia Sandu and Speaker Igor Grosu. At the end of the meeting, they will hold a joint press conference.
The discussion agenda will focus on the European path of the Republic of Moldova and the opportunities to strengthen Moldovan-Slovenian relations, inter-parliamentary cooperation, justice reform and the impact of Russian aggression against Ukraine on the regional situation.
The Slovenian delegation also includes members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group Republic of Slovenia – Republic of Moldova, led by Miha Lamut, as well as Secretary General of the National Assembly Uršula Zore Tavčar.
The Slovenian speaker will also hold talks with members of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy and European Integration, led by MP Ina Coșeru, as well as with representatives of the Women's Parliamentary Platform, chaired by Deputy Speaker Doina Gherman. The visit agenda also includes meetings with Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihail Popșoi. Additionally, a meeting is scheduled between Secretaries General of the two parliaments Igor Talmazan and Uršula Zore Tavčar.
The visit of the delegation takes place at the invitation of Grosu. Moldovan-Slovenian diplomatic relations were established on October 27, 1993.
