Presidents of Moldova, Romania, Ukraine together in Chisinau on Independence Day

President Maia Sandu on August 27 will take part in the events dedicated to Independence Day, held this year under the motto, Independence Unites Us. In the second half of the day, the presidents of Romania and Ukraine, Nicusor Dan and Volodymyr Zelenskyy, are expected in Chisinau.

The official schedule will begin at 08:30, when Maia Sandu, together with the  parliament speaker and the prime minister, will lay flowers at the Eternity Memorial Complex.

Another flower-laying ceremony will take place at 09:30 at the monument to Stephen the Great and Holy.

The first high-ranking foreign official expected in Chisinau is President of Romania Nicusor Dan. Maia Sandu will welcome him at 14:35.

The two heads of state will then take part, as of 16:45, on the Great National Assembly Square, in the military parade marking the 35th anniversary of the proclamation of the independence of the Republic of Moldova.

On the same day, at 18:00, Maia Sandu will welcome President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Subsequently, a trilateral meeting of the delegations of Moldova, Romania and Ukraine will take place at the Presidency.

According to the schedule, the three heads of state will make press statements at 19:25.

The official schedule will conclude on the Great National Assembly Square. Maia Sandu, Nicusor Dan and Volodymyr Zelenskyy will attend the events dedicated to Independence Day and after 21:00 they will address the citizens.

This year’s events are held under the motto, Independence Unites Us, marking 35 years since the proclamation of the independence of the Republic of Moldova.

Accredited media representatives will be able to attend more official moments at the Presidency. Access for welcoming the President of Romania will be allowed between 14:00 and 14:20, and for welcoming the President of Ukraine - between 17:25 and 17:45.

For the press statements of the three heads of state, journalists will be granted access between 18:50 and 19:10.
