Parliament building illuminated in colors of Ukrainian flag on Ukraine’s Independence Day

Parliament building of the Republic of Moldova was illuminated on Sunday evening in the colors of Ukraine’s national flag, as a sign of solidarity on the occasion of State Flag Day and on the eve of the neighboring country’s Independence Day.

Speaker Igor Grosu delivered a message of support for the Ukrainian people, highlighting the similar paths of the two states and the importance of the struggle for sovereignty.

“Happy Independence Day, Ukraine! Happy Independence Day, Ukrainians! Like the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine became independent 35 years ago. We know how difficult is the path of a country that defends its freedom, sovereignty, and its right to decide its own future,” he noted.

Igor Grosu emphasized the sacrifice made by Ukrainian citizens in recent years and its impact on the entire European continent.

“For more than four years now, Ukrainians have been fighting every day and defending their country with courage and sacrifice hard to put into words. Through their struggle, they defend their security, ours, and that of the whole of Europe. We, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, thank you for this lesson in courage and love of country,” added the Speaker.

He also reaffirmed Chișinău’s commitment to support the neighboring state in restoring its territorial integrity, concluding his message on a confident note.

“We will continue to support Ukraine in its just struggle for freedom and territorial integrity. Good always prevails! Слава Україні! – Героям слава!” Igor Grosu concluded.
