Homeland and Diaspora Days to be marked in August in over 100 localities across country

Over 160 events will be organized throughout August as part of the 2026 Homeland and Diaspora Days. These will take place in 104 localities from 24 districts of the country, providing an opportunity to bring citizens together around shared values and common projects.

The activities are part of the 10th edition of Diaspora Days 2026, which will be organized by the Government of the Republic of Moldova between 3–21 August. According to the Bureau for Diaspora Relations, the program of activities dedicated to Homeland and Diaspora Days includes festivals, concerts, exhibitions, fairs, traditional gatherings, creative workshops, activities for children and youth, sports competitions, film screenings, and meetings with the diaspora, bringing together people from home and from abroad. August is the period when most Moldovans settled abroad return home to see their families, friends and neighbors, and to reconnect with the localities they left. These reunions provide a valuable opportunity for people at home and those from the diaspora to share experiences, discuss changes, needs and opportunities in their communities, and contribute ideas for their development.

Homeland and Diaspora Days are organized by the Alliance of Natives’ Associations, in partnership with the Bureau for Diaspora Relations, with the support of Switzerland and UNDP Moldova.
