Revenues of 63.3 billion lei collected in Moldova's national public budget in first half of 2026

Revenues totaling 63.3 billion lei were collected in the national public budget in the first half of 2026, while expenditures amounted to 71.1 billion lei. The figures were included in the Semiannual Report on the Execution of the National Public Budget for 2026, approved by the government today.

According to the document, the execution of the national public budget ended with a budget balance (deficit) of 7.8 billion lei, or 2.00 per cent of Gross Domestic Product.

The report also shows that, as of June 30, 2026, state budget revenues amounted to 37 billion lei, expenditures totaled 46.2 billion lei, and the budget balance (deficit) stood at 9.2 billion lei.

According to data presented by the Finance Ministry, the sources used to finance the deficit were: positive net financing from government securities issued on the domestic market, amounting to 5.1 billion lei, and loans disbursed by external creditors, totaling 4.2 billion lei, of which 3.5 billion lei was allocated for budget support and 700 million lei for projects financed from external sources.

As of June 30, 2026, the outstanding public debt amounted to 142.8 billion lei, increasing by 10.0 billion lei, or 7.5 per cent, compared with the end of 2025. The share of public debt in GDP stood at 36.9 per cent.

The report will be submitted to parliament for informing.
