Moldovan deputy PM for reintegration, delegation from Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development discuss development projects benefiting residents on both banks of Dniester

Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri today met a delegation from Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), on an official visit to Moldova on September 30-October 2, 2026. The meeting took place in the context of the strategic dialogue and governmental consultations on development cooperation between Moldova and the Federal Republic of Germany for 2027–2028.

The discussions addressed developments in the negotiations on the Transnistrian settlement, the socioeconomic situation in the region, as well as the efforts of the national authorities to resolve the problems faced by communities on both banks of the Dniester, including through sectoral policies for the country’s reintegration.

The sides also discussed forms of support provided through assistance programmes, with emphasis placed on the strategic importance of continuing projects focused on modernizing local social infrastructure and improving public services for the benefit of communities.

At the same time, the German officials were informed about the actions taken by the Moldovan government to advance the country’s gradual reintegration by harmonizing the economic, customs and fiscal space, including the measures undertaken to operationalize the Convergence Fund.

In the context, Deputy Prime Minister Valeriu Chiveri emphasized that assistance projects must add value to the reintegration process of Moldova and contribute to improving the lives of communities on both banks of the Dniester, stressing the importance of their continuous coordination with the Reintegration Policies Bureau.

At the end of the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Valeriu Chiveri expressed gratitude to the Federal Government of Germany for its continued contribution to the development of Moldova and for its firm support for the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.
