New actions for competitiveness and modernization of industrial sector
Today the Government approved actions to increase industrial competitiveness, stimulate investment and modernize the sector. These actions are included in the Action Plan for 2027–2028 for the implementation of the National Industrial Development Programme for 2024–2028.
Thus, over the next two years, measures are planned to further develop industrial infrastructure, expand financing instruments, attract investment, support innovative enterprises, and develop skills through dual education. The plan also includes measures for energy efficiency, the circular economy, and the development of cooperation and partnerships between enterprises.
New elements include the establishment of an integrated mechanism to support business infrastructure—the Fund for the Development of Business Infrastructure and Competitiveness; the expansion of state aid mechanisms, including a new instrument dedicated to research, development, and innovation; and the implementation of a Fund of Funds mechanism to finance innovative industrial enterprises. In addition, the instruments of the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development will be expanded.
The implementation of the Plan will contribute to increasing the productivity and competitiveness of industry, attracting investment, and bringing the industrial sector closer to the European single market.
In the first six months of 2026, industrial production in the Republic of Moldova increased by 7.9% compared with the same period last year. This growth was mainly supported by the manufacturing industry, where production rose by 7%, as well as by the energy sector, which recorded a 14.2% increase.
