Ceremonies dedicated to Last Bell held in schools across Moldova; 2025–2026 school year ends

The general education institutions of Moldova today are holding ceremonies dedicated to the last school bell, marking the end of the 2025–2026 school year. For 9th and 12th grade students, graduation exams are next, while children from the other grades have started their summer vacation.

The festivities started in most educational institutions at 08:30. According to the  Education and Research Ministry (MEC), each school was able to decide on the date and format for organizing the end-of-year festivities after consulting the school community – students, parents and teaching staff.

The formal assemblies held in schools traditionally brought together pupils, parents, and teachers, who reviewed the outcomes of the school year that has ended. Dressed in festive clothes and holding bouquets of flowers, pupils said goodbye to their classmates and teachers, with strong emotions and plans for the coming summer.

After the closing ceremonies of the 2025–2026 school year, 9th and 12th grade students will sit their graduation exams.

The 2026 baccalaureate session will take place during June 2–19, while the lower secondary (gymnasium) graduation exams will be organized on June 4–15.

In an interview given with MOLDPRES, Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun said that the school year now ending had been marked by more important developments, including free meals for lower secondary students, the implementation of curriculum reform, the consolidation of the school network, as well as significant investments in educational institutions through modernization works and the provision of modern equipment.

According to statistics data, around 1,200 schools are operating in Moldova. Most of them are lower secondary (gymnasium) institutions.
