Cyber defence and combating hybrid threats on agenda of Moldovan-Swiss consultations in Bern

Cyber defence, combating hybrid threats, and strengthening the defence capabilities of the Republic of Moldova were the main topics discussed during the second round of Moldovan-Swiss bilateral consultations in the field of defence, held in Bern, Switzerland. The delegation of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Moldova was led by State Secretary for Defence Policy Ghenadie Cojocaru.

During the meeting, representatives of the defence institutions of the Republic of Moldova and Switzerland reviewed recent developments in the bilateral partnership and the measures taken to strengthen the defence capabilities of our country.

The discussions focused on identifying new areas of cooperation, including in fields such as combating hybrid threats, enhancing cyber defence capabilities, and developing strategic communication.

In Bern, Cojocaru also had a bilateral meeting with his Swiss counterpart, Markus Mäder, who headed the delegation of the Swiss Confederation at the consultations.

The officials discussed the European integration path of the Republic of Moldova, the strategic objectives in the defence sector, the process of modernising the National Army, as well as the prospects for expanding Moldovan-Swiss cooperation through new projects aimed at strengthening institutional resilience in the face of current challenges.

The Moldovan-Swiss bilateral consultations in the field of defence are held annually, starting from 2025, and represent a dialogue platform for developing cooperation between the two states in the field of security and defence.
