EcoContact public association of Moldova launches phase II of programme on rehabilitation of habitat in protected areas

The EcoContact public association has announced the launch of phase II of the  Programme of Measures for the Rehabilitation of Habitats of Communities in Protected Areas, meant for local public authorities. The initiative is implemented within the project titled, Improving the Management of Protected Areas of Moldova through Institutional Development, Capacity Building and Habitat Rehabilitation, financed by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), with the contribution of the local public authorities involved.

The programme aims to support local authorities in implementing measures that will rehabilitate natural habitats, promoting biodiversity protection and sustainable management of protected areas. In this phase, authorities from the Orhei National Park area and the Codrii (Forests) Nature Reserve are invited to submit proposals for concrete intervention measures, with an estimated budget of 57,000 lei per submitted measure.

“The Implementation Manual for Phase II provides complete details on the types of eligible measures; the criteria for selecting and evaluating proposals; the requirements for compiling the application file; the way of financing and monitoring the implementation of the selected measures. The deadline for submitting proposals is 13 February 2026. Questions regarding the submission process can be sent electronically to procurari@ecocontact.md, no later than 9 February 2026,” EcoContact said.

According to the cited source, the proposal file must include the completed application form with a clearly detailed estimated budget; relevant photo materials for the submitted proposal; the invoice of quantities, if available; the technical project, if available; environmental documentation, if the measure falls under this requirement; and a guarantee of co-financing from local authorities, representing 10 per cent of the amount of the approved proposal.

This stage of the programme gives local authorities the opportunity to actively contribute to the conservation of biodiversity and the sustainable development of protected areas in Moldova.
