Former leader of Moldova's Democrats charged in new episode dealing with Bank Fraud

Chisinau, 4 January /MOLDPRES/ - Prosecutors have brought a new charge against the former leader of the Moldovan Democratic Party (PDM), Vladimir Plahotniuc. The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office (PA) said that it today had informed lawyers the ordinance on bringing charges, with completing the accusation against the former PDM leader, in the file titled, Bank Fraud.     
According to PA, Plahotniuc is charged in a new episode dealing with the Bank Fraud. He is charged on three counts, as follows: creation and leadership of a criminal organization, swindle committed in particularly large amount and money laundering committed by a criminal organization.  
The new episode in which Plahotniuc is charged has as reference the period between 24 November 2014 and 29 June 2015. At that time, the former PDM leader, acting as leader of the criminal organization, being real beneficiary and manager, through interposed persons, of more non-resident companies, received in accounts, through resident companies founded by Ilan Shor and through interposed people, financial means amounting to 21,000,000 dollars, which had at their origin bank loans got fraudulently from the Commercial Bank Banca de Economii (Savings Bank) stock company.  
Thus, prosecutors found out that Vladimir Plahotniuc bought an airship with the financial means got, which he used in personal interests and which he sold to third persons.  
The Prosecutor’s Office informs that, in continuation, the prosecution group carries out the needed spectrum of prosecution actions and special measures of investigations, aimed at fully and objectively researching the circumstances of the cause, identifying and calling to account all people involved in committing the offence.
